West Pokot County Assembly

Article 176 of the Constitution establishes that the County Assembly shall consist of the following:- Members of County Assembly, each elected by the registered voters of single member ward, each ward constituting a single member constituency; Nominated members by political parties according to their proportion of members of the Assembly in accordance with Article 90, to represent special interests including the youth, persons with disabilities and workers; and the Speaker, who is an ex officio member.

The County Assembly being the Legislative Arm of the County Government, has three mandates, that is; Representation, Legislation and Oversight.

West Pokot County Assembly comprises of 20 elected and 12 nominated Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s) who sit on various committees of the Assembly.
