Laikipia County Assembly consists of 21 Members, who include 15 Ward Representatives, each elected by the registered voters of the wards, each ward constituting a single member constituency. Six (6) members are nominated by the County Assembly political parties according to their proportional representation in the County Assembly to represent special interests including persons with disabilities, minorities and the youth, and the Hon. Speaker elected from outside the House.
County Assembly Leadership
The Laikipia County Assembly Service Board (CASB) is established pursuant to section 12 (1) of the County Governments Act 2012 as a body corporate with perpetual succession. It has five members: Hon. Speaker of the Assembly as the Chairperson; Two sitting Members of the County Assembly and two people residents in the County appointed by the County Assembly from among persons who have knowledge and experience in public affairs, but who is not a Member of the County Assembly. The Clerk to the Assembly is the Secretary to the Board.
