Elgeyo-Marakwet County Assembly

The Assembly is the Legislative Arm of the Elgeyo Marakwet County and draws its mandate and authority from the provisions of Article 185 of the Constitution.

County Assembly of Elgeyo Marakwet consists of:

  • 32 Hon Members, who include:
    • 20 Ward Representatives each elected by the registered voters of the wards,
    • Twelve (12) members are nominated by the County Assembly political parties according to their proportional representation in the County Assembly to represent special interests including persons with disabilities, minorities and the youth, and
    • The Hon. Speaker elected from outside the House.

The Assembly is located in Item Town along Marakwet Road

County Assembly Leadership

Hon. Philemon Kiplagat Sabulei The Speaker – County Assembly of Elgeyo Marakwet Hon. Philemon Kiplagat Sabulei was born on 13th July 1985 in Chebusie Village of Metkei Ward of Elgeyo/Marakwet County.
  • The Second Speaker of Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly, Hon. P.K Sabulei is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Moi University and a Post graduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law.
  • Prior to his election as the County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Sabulei served as the Group Legal Officer of Sasini Ltd, a public listed company and a member of Sameer Group of Companies.
  • He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya having been called and admitted to the bar on 30th April 2016.
